Abstract

Study on feed habit of lemeduk (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) was conducted in Aceh Tamiang district on October, 2016. The objective of the present study was to determine feed habit of lemeduk (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) as the basis for the development of aquaculture. Purposive sampling method was conducted by investigating river based on 3 different habitats include natural habit, oil palm plantation area and settlements region. Cast net (mesh size of 1 inch) were used to catch the fish samples, then samples were preserved using 10% formalin. Lemeduk caught during the study amounted to 152 samples, where 140 samples filled food and 12 samples were empty. The results of the analysis of stomach found lemeduk eat grass, lichens, seeds, worms and insects. Based on the analysis of IP (index of prepoderance) value of all types of feed and analytical results between the length of the colon compared to the total length of the body showed that lemeduk classified omnivore. The results of the analysis based on the length of the class can be concluded that there is no difference in the composition of the food in all classes of length. The results of the analysis based on the location of this study concluded that there is no difference in the type of food.
