Kualitas Fisik Silase Rumput Gajah Mini (Pennisetum purpureum CV. Mott) Akibat Pemberian Probiotik EM-4 dengan Tambahan Bahan Aditif yang Berbeda

Abstract


ABSTRAK, Suatu penelitian tentang penentuan bahan aditif terbaik untuk meningkatkan kualitas fisik silase rumput gajah mini, telah dilaksanakan dalam tiga bagian. Penelitian bagian pertama merupakan proses pembuatan silase yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP) yang terletak di Jalan Utama Gampong Rukoh selama 21 hari, dimulai dari tanggal 25 April 2019 hingga 16 Mei 2019. Bagian kedua adalah uji organoleptik dilakukan di Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Syiah Kuala pada tanggal 17 Mei 2019, sementara bagian ketiga penelitian berupa uji pH dilakukan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Pengolahan Susu Prodi Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Syiah Kuala pada tanggal 17 Mei 2019. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian probiotik EM-4 dengan tambahan bahan aditif yang berbeda terhadap kualitas fisik silase rumput gajah mini. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, dimana perlakuan adalah 1) kontrol, 2) Belimbing wuluh 3%, 3) Molases 3% dan, 4) Dedak halus 3%. Parameter yang diukur pada penelitian ini adalah Warna, Aroma, Tekstur, Keberadaan Jamur dan Kadar pH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan probiotik EM-4 dengan tambahan bahan aditif yang berbeda dapat meningkatkan kualitas fisik silase rumput gajah mini.  

 

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DWARF ELEPHANT GRASS (Pennisetum purpureum CV. Mott) ENSILED WITH DIFFERENT ADDITIVE PLUS EM-4 PROBIOTIC

ABSTRACT. A research concerning the physical characteristics of dwarf elephant grass ensiled with different additive plus EM-4 probiotic was completed. The research was conducted in three parts sequentially. Firstly was the silage processing done at the Field Laboratory Peternakan (LLP) located on the main road of Rukoh village during 21 days from April 25th to May 16th, 2019.  Secondly was the organoleptic test that conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University on May 17th, 2019. The last part of the research was pH test carried at the Science and Milk Processing Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University on May 17th, 2019. The objective of this research was to find the effect of ensiled dwarf elephant grass with different additive plus EM-4 probiotic on the silage physical characteristics. The design used in this research was a completely randomized design (CRD) The Each treatment was repeated four times, were L0 (control), L1 (3% sliced starfruit added), L2 (3% molasses added), and L3 (3% fine bran added). The color, the scent, the texture, the presence of fungus, and pH value were the parameter determined. The results showed that physical characteristics of dwarf elephant grass ensiled with different additive plus EM-4 probiotic was improved.
